WALKERS HONORS FALLEN HEROES

1938 – 2025 Billy Morris Tinsley, 86 years, 10 months, and 2 days, of Madisonville, TX passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 at his home. Billy’s life was celebrated at 2 p.m.

1950 – 2025 Dana Lynn Goree, born on February 15, 1950, passed away peacefully with her devoted brother, Frederick Dennis Goree and Charlene Goree, by her side. Her life, though marked by challenges, was a radiant testament to resilience, joy, and unconditional love.

1934 – 2025 Grover Charles Denman, 90 years, 8 months, and 9 days, of Iola, TX passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, May 23, 2025. Charles’s life will be celebrated 1 p.m.

Three council members took the oath of office at the Midway City Council meeting Monday, May 19, while longtime council members were recognized for their service. Mayor Randal Dorman administered the oath of office to newly elected council members Rhonda Owens, Penny Conner and Rex Newkirk at the beginning of the meeting.

A Madison County Jury sentenced Philip Cameron Carter (43) to 40 years in prison on Wednesday, May 7, for solicitation of capital murder after a six-week jury trial which began at the end of March. The same jury also sentenced Carter to three years for deadly conduct, nine years for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, seven years for continuous family violence, four years for repeated bond violations, two years for retaliation, and 180 days in state jail with a $10,000 fine for criminal mischief.

Pink plastic flamingos will soon appear in yards across Madison County as part of a creative fundraiser to support local children in protective care. The Madison County Child Protective Services Board has launched its “Flamingo Flocking” campaign, inviting residents to donate money to have a flock of bright pink flamingos temporarily placed in a friend’s yard.
