It seems the majority of the new arrivals were also drawn to the city life and set up home near their, “Illegal Alien” friends. They too decided they didn’t want to become American citizens. They had no desire to adopt Texas or American culture, learn the language, or assimilate in anyway. They actually separated themselves from the rest of Texas society, started opening up businesses with signs written in their mother tongue, and catered to their own kind. There was sometimes even open disdain for Texans, as well as the Texas Aliens.
