The Madisonville High School Mustangs varsity baseball team won three of four games over the last two weeks, capped by a 20-6 rout of Bellville on Saturday, April 25 to improve to 16-13 on the season. Gavin Kovar set the tone for the stretch.

MIDWAY — A Texas Revolution soldiers camp will rise under the trees at Antioch Church of Christ Saturday, less than a mile from the Trinity River crossing where the Runaway Scrape choked to a halt 190 years ago.

The Madisonville High School Lady Mustangs varsity softball team lost both of its games over the last two weeks, falling to Rusk 10-1 on Tuesday, April 14 and to Bridge City 9-1 on Wednesday, April 22 to drop to 14-17 on the season.

Atmos Energy crews and contractors will perform a natural gas safety survey in Madisonville from April 28 to May 4. Crews will use mobile leak detection units to measure and map methane plumes in the area.

Madisonville FFA will send nine teams to the state Career Development Events contest after advancing from the Area IX meet. The chapter entered 15 teams in the area competition, facing programs that ranged from Class 1A through 6A.
