Willie “Charlene” (Pate) Scambray Horn, age 77, was born September 3, 1943 in Blakely, Georgia but grew up in Houston. She passed away on May 11, 2021 from heart failure. Charlene faced a lot of challenges throughout her life but persevered with a strength not many understood. She married Johnny Scambray and moved to Madisonville where she lived for more than twenty years. Several years after Johnny passed away, Charlene met Bobby Dean Horn; they married on May 10, 2014. Bobby was a wonderful, caring, loving and compassionate husband and Charlene felt so blessed.

One of her biggest desires was to go on a cruise, and her sisters were able to help her do this in 2019. She and Bobby wanted to travel more, but her health prevented that from happening.

Charlene was preceded in death by her mom, Margaret Pate and dad, Charles Pate & wife, Gloria and her very special brother-in-law, Charles Bagnato.

Charlene is survived by her husband, Bobby Dean Horn; her sisters, Dorie Bagnato and Christine Doyle; several nieces and nephews, Michael (Vickie); Scott (Nancy), Kimberly, Kevin and Karen (Robert) and their families; her aunt, June Weaver; step-sons, Bobby (Melinda) Horn and their children, Katie and Bobby Dean, III (Trey) and Frank Hatfield; brothers-in-law, Jimmy (Jane) Horn and Don (Joy) Horn, as well as many other relatives. Charlene is also survived by two very special and longtime friends, Carolyn Hunt and Joan Byrd, and her little canine companion, Snuggles.

Charlene was very loved by family and friends and will be immensely missed. Rest in peace, Charlene, in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, Normangee, Texas--Youth Fund.

A celebration of life for Charlene Horn was held Saturday, May 15, 2021, 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Normangee, Texas. Graveside services will be held Sunday, May 23, 2021, 3 p.m., at Newton Cemetery, Newton, Texas.

Arrangements were under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
