In home tournament action Thursday, the Mustangs took two of their three games with wins over Fairfield 6-3, and Woodville 10-1. In their third contest the Mustangs went hitless in a game called after 2 and a half innings of play giving La Grange the 4-0 win.

In the Fairfield game the Mustangs jumped out on top early, eventually staking a 6-0 lead over the Eagles. A triple and a sacrifice fly by Fairfield cut the Mustangs lead in half, but the game was already sealed.

The Mustangs scored six runs on just two hits to take down the Eagles but were walked six times in the game.

In the win over Woodville, Madisonville had established a huge 10-0 lead after just three innings of play.

Cameron Thrower and Cody Stapleton combined to get the no hitter win for the Mustangs.

After being down 4-0 heading into the bottom of the third the game between La Grange and Madisonville was completed. The Mustangs finished the game with zero hits and three errors.

On Saturday, the Mustangs gave up four runs in the second inning and four more in the third to fall to the Porter Spartans 9-4 on the final day of tournament action. The loss put the Mustangs at 2-2 on the young season.

After spotting the Spartans four in the second, the Mustangs did make things interesting putting up three runs in their half of the second. Tyler Moseman scored when Cody Stapleton lined a hard grounder up the middle. Moments later, Caden Miller hit a liner to right for a two-bagger to score Cutter Smith and Stapleton, pulling the Mustangs within one run.

The big fourth inning by Porter extended their lead to 8-1 after their half of the third inning.

The Mustangs mustered their final score of the game in their portion of the third inning after Moseman scored when Stapleton walked him home.

Porter would add another score in the fourth to close out the game.

The Mustangs finished the game collectively with just four hits.

Miller, Cade Hathorn and Brad Rudis all saw action on the mound, striking out three while surrendering 10 hits.

The Mustangs were in home action on Tuesday against Elkhart, before heading to the Navasota Tournament Mar. 4-6.
