TOP GUN

Body
Cap: James Parker and family has loaned a 10-gauge, double-barreled, double-triggered shotgun that was produced in the late 1800s to the Madison County Museum and was put on display Thursday. Parker’s grandfather originally acquired the gun around 1900 when he traded a mule for it and it was used for killing wild game, a large portion of the family’s food supply at the time. Included under the gun are plaques explaining its history as well as plaques of their father and grandfather. PHOTOS BY CAMPBELL ATKINS
