Residents of Madison County face travel disruptions as several state-maintained roadways have been declared "impassable" due to ongoing flooding concerns.

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, these routes include Farm to Markey 39 between FM 978 and FM 2989 in Normangee, which have been closed since Wednesday, Jan. 2.

Madison County also has a network of more minor roads, including many county and farm-to-market roads affected by the flooding and many creeks, ditches, and rivers, which continue to rise, according to the Madison County Office of Emergency Management.

Authorities are urging extreme caution for those needing to travel, citing the mantra "Turn Around, Don't Drown," advising against attempting to cross barricades or closed roads.
