After a 22-year investigation that spanned two continents, Shannon Wilkerson, a former soldier, was convicted on Monday, May 6, for the murder of 19-year-old Amanda Gonzales in 2001, according to a Justice Department press release.
Gonzales, who was pregnant at the time of the murder, was found in her barracks in Hanau, Germany, on Nov 5, 2001. She was found fatally beaten and strangled.
The Madisonville Police Department executed an arrest warrant apprehending 45-year-old Pranai Patel on charges of possession or promotion of child pornography on Thursday, May 9.
The MPD was assisted by the Madisonville Consolidated ISD Police Department and the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, who helped execute the arrest warrant.
The Iola/North Zulch Chapter of the Eastern Star #458 donated teddy bears to the North Zulch Volunteer Fire Department. NZVFD were thankful and said, “We hope we never have to hand them out, but we're certain the children will find them comforting if we do.”
