PEGGY SUE (CELY) CHAUVIN
Body
Peggy Sue (Cely) Chauvin was born May 14, 1946 in Palestine, Texas and passed October 29, 2022 in Katy, Texas. She was born to Tom and Hallie Cely and grew up in the Neches community with her three sisters, graduating from Palestine High as the Arc Light Sweetheart in 1964. Peggy married Gary Chauvin on April 20, 1974 and moved to Madisonville, Texas where they shared 16 years of marriage and two daughters until his passing in 1991. Peggy could usually be found singing alto from the pews of Midway Church of Christ, working away at her desk at John Bankhead’s law office for 24 years, or reading with a diet coke and a grandchild and/or cat in her lap. She was known for her sweet spirit and many talents (painting, sewing, baking, playing piano and guitar) as well as her love for horses and riding. Her strong-willed, independent nature helped her conquer polio, overcome numerous health issues, and raise two equally strongwilled daughters on her own. She spent her final years doting on her five grandchildren who were her pride and joy.
