Morris Derral Richards was born July 16, 1940 in Bryan, Texas to parents, Elbert Oscar & Lillie Irene (Horton) Richards. He was raised in Freeport, Texas. Soon after graduating high school, Morris enlisted in the U.S. Army, and he was stationed in New Jersey and Georgia. He had later worked for Dow Chemical Company for a period of time and also for the Cal Farley Boys Ranch for five years.

The visitation is scheduled from 10-11AM on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville, TX. The funeral services will follow the visitation beginning at 11AM. Eulogy by Allan Williams and Olan Weaver officiating. The burial will follow at Weches Cemetery in Weches, TX at 3PM.

Billie Stringer, age 76, passed away January 13, 2021 in Bryan, Texas. A celebration of her life was held 11 A.M., Monday, January 18, 2021 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in North Zulch. Pastor Randall Smith officiated the service. Interment followed in Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery.

MARTHA MCADAMS CADE FETTERMAN

Martha McAdams Cade Fetterman (95), died December 10, 2020 in Helotes, Bexar County, Texas. She was born December 3, 1925 in Huntsville, Walker County, Texas to William Floyd McAdams and wife, Bethel Cook McAdams. A graduate of Sam Houston University, she taught business subjects at La Porte High School for 30 years. Martha lived 40 years in Clear Lake City and was a member of House of Prayer Lutheran Church and a past matron of the La Porte Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of The Ladies Reading Club of La Porte and a life member of the San Jacinto District of the Texas Federation of Women’s Clubs. She actively pursued a hobby of genealogy and was a member of the Captain John McAdams Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Bluebonnet Chapter of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. In later life, Martha moved to Kingwood, Texas, and became a member of the Kingwood Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Raymond Fetterman, Sr. She is survived by her daughter Ellen Cade Edwards and husband Eddy Edwards, her son Edward Jackson Cade, Jr. and wife Paula Whitney Cade, her daughter Terri Fetterman Harrell and husband James Harrell; grandchildren Cade Seimers, Laurie Collins, Lloyd Edwards, Amy Cade Mantooth, Alan Cade, Cody Harrell, and Kathryn Harrell Slosarek; great grandchildren Allison, Ashlynn, Kevin, Kaiden, and Noah Mantooth, Bodhi and Jaxon Collins, and Mabel Slosarek.

Ronald Pontius, 74, of Madisonville, Texas passed away December 6, 2020 in Madisonville. He was born December 1945 innac, Michigan to parents, Elmer & Aileen Grace (Endleman) Pontius. He grew up in Mission, Texas where he also graduated from high school. Ronald attended the University of Texas at Pan American where he received both his Bachelors and Master’s degrees. He also served his country in the U.S. Air Force.

PEARLINE WHEATON JOHNSON

On February 9, 1945, Jimmy & Nannie Wheaton gave birth to a beautiful baby girl whom they named Pearline. Pearline accepted Christ at an early age at the Little Rock Baptist Church. She later joined twelve others as they became the founders of Lakeview Baptist Church in Madisonville, Texas. Pearline married Rufus Johnson and with this union came three children. Pearline worked at Reed’s Department Store for over thirty years until they closed their doors. She then worked at D&J Storage for ten, plus years. Pearline was very active at her church and in her community. She served on various boards, such as, City Council, CPS, Son Shine Center, West End Cemetery, NAACP and many more.
