Benito Recendiz “Chaparro” Gonzalez, 65 years of Bedias, TX, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024 in Bryan, TX. The funeral mass is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Friday, January 19, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Madisonville, TX.

Father Guillermo will officiate. The visitation is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2024, at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville, TX.

Benito was born on March 1, 1958 in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico to Exiquio Recendiz and Elena Gonzalez.

He was a long-time employee of Color Spot in Huntsville, TX and Monterey Mushrooms in Madisonville, TX.

Benito enjoyed a good joke, a good rodeo, and spending time with his family.

Benito is survived by his wife, Ma. Tomasa Lopez Reyes; his children, Ma. Adela Reyes Lopez, Lidia Ruch, Benita Resendez, Jose Cruz Recendis, Daniela Recendiz, and Sergio Recendiz; his parents; his 9 siblings; his 14 grandchildren; and his 2 great grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers are Faustino Reyes, Tereso Almaraz, Jose Cruz Recendis, Guadalupe Zepeda, Exiquio Recendiz, and Bryan Recendiz.
