Bobbie Ann (McWhorter) Souther, 78 of North Zulch, Texas, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2023, peacefully at home with her daughter by her side.

Bobbie was born on August 23, 1944, in North Zulch, Texas, to Buell Dorman and Mary Lillian (Martin) McWhorter. She graduated from North Zulch High School, where she played basketball and made many lifetime friends. Bobbie then made her way to Houston. While there, she worked in various industries and excelled the most in Outside Sales. Bobbie worked for the City of Houston, where she met Allen Spillers, whom she married and had their daughter, Aimee Renee. Bobbie enjoyed a variety of activities, from water skiing behind Miss Priss dancing the night away, and entertaining family and friends.

In 2000, Bobbie married Bennie Souther.

They enjoyed traveling and camping in the cooler areas of the US. In 2004, the couple moved to North Zulch, Texas, and built their retirement home. The years in North Zulch were filled with wonderful family gatherings and enjoying the wildlife that surrounded their home. Bobbie, known as Gram, loved her grandchildren, Zachary, Hunter, and Kate. She spent endless time exploring places with them, attending their activities, cooking with them, and being their biggest fan. She would tell each one of them how they were her favorite grandchild and would always end I Love You with I Love You More. After Bennie’s death in 2011, Bobbie remained in North Zulch until 2019. She then moved to Robson Ranch in Denton, Texas, to be closer to her daughter, son-in-law & grandchildren. There Bobbie was involved with the Women’s Republican Club and took various art classes. Bobbie was an avid traveler throughout the world. She loved visiting new places and, most of all, taking cruises. On a ship, you would probably find Bobbie in the casino or dancing with her favorite cruise group of friends. Bobbie asked as she was approaching the end of her life that people celebrate as she “Cruised into Heaven.”

Bobbie is survived by her daughter, Aimee Renee (Spillers) Holcomb and husband Scott; her grandsons, Zachary Wayne & Hunter Cole Holcomb; her granddaughter, Kate Ashlyn Holcomb; and brothers, Tommy & wife, Shiela and David & wife, Diane McWhorter. Left to cherish her memory are a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and so many special friends.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Souther; her parents, B.D and Mary Lillian McWhorter; and her siblings, Ella Lewis, Gerreldene Hoppe, Louise Redmon, and Zettye Ferguson.

The family wishes to extend their appreciation to Carla Williams for the very special care that she gave Bobbie.

Bobbie will always be remembered for her dynamic personality, beauty, and loving heart.
