She is survived by her son Tommy Buke, her grandchildren Claire Burke and her fiancé Rayna Baldwin, TJ Burke his wife Amy Ximora – Burke their children, Jack and Zoe Burke.

Bobbye grew up in Livingston Texas and graduated from Sam Houston State University, she went on to become a Kindergarten teacher, where she would teach for 44 years in HISD, 43 of those years in the same classroom. She was awarded the Lewis Hein award for Child Advocacy in 2012 in New York City, and the joy for shaping young lives, did not stop in retirement. After she retired from her Kindergarten classroom she went on the volunteer her time at ABC West, where she found a new calling for helping the disadvantaged youth and disabled student body.

Bobbye enjoyed the theatre, watching her fightin’ Texas Aggies on a Saturday afternoon and enjoying fabulous restaurants; and was a member of the Daughters of the Revolution.

Bobbye was a fashionista, you would often find her in a new outfit, sporting some fabulous broach or one of her signature David Webb bracelets. She was passionate and opinionated and instilled that not only in her students, but also her family. She was a firecracker, loud and strong in her convictions but a wonder and beauty to look at.

A chapel service at Dettling Funeral Home will be held Friday August 4, 2023, at 12:30 PM with graveside services following at Forest Park Westheimer at 2:00 PM.
