Carolyn Jo Warren, known to many as “Dody,” age 80, peacefully passed away on July 5, 2023, while in the hospital in Houston, Texas. She was born on September 28, 1943, in Houston, Texas, to John and Iva Mae (Castleberry) Phillips and chose to make a life there for many years until moving to Madisonville, where she resided until her death.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, John and Iva Mae Phillips, and her brother, Charles Phillips. Carolyn graduated from S.P. Waltrip High School. After completing her education, she became a member of the United States Navy where she proudly served her country with honor and dedication.

The values she learned during her service were carried throughout her years. Beyond her military service, Carolyn became a member of The Order of the Eastern Star and dedicated many years to contributing her time to its mission.

Carolyn was a strong-minded individual who cherished the company of others. She had a knack for striking up conversations and enjoyed spending time with people from all walks of life. She was always up for a warm cup of coffee and good conversation.

Carolyn indulged in various hobbies such as hunting, riding her four-wheeler, and playing bingo. Additionally, she found joy in playing games with her friends on her computer and staying connected with friends and family on Facebook.

Carolyn will be dearly missed by her surviving family members, including her daughter, Jerrie Dimaria; nieces, Laura Rinehart and Brenda Meyers; and nephew, D.J. Phillips; as well as numerous great nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service to honor Carolyn’s life will be held at 3 P.M., Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Family, friends, and acquaintances are invited to attend and pay their respects. In memory of Carolyn, her loved ones ask that you remember her as the vibrant and sociable person she was.

Her legacy will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.
