A funeral service honoring the life of Florece Barrier, age 72, of North Zulch, was held 10 A.M., Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Willowhole Cemetery Chapel near North Zulch.

Rev. Matt Murray, pastor of First Baptist Church, North Zulch, officiated the service. Interment followed in Willowhole Cemetery.

Florece (McCune) Barrier was born August 3, 1950, in Houston, to Robert & Flora (Wycuff) McCune.

She retired from the Texas Department of Public Safety Driver’s License department. Florece had lived in North Zulch since 1994, coming from Denver, Colorado to care for her ailing sister. She adored hummingbirds and cats and loved to feed and care for them. Her passion was reading, and she had plenty of books to show for it! Florece also enjoyed cooking food for family gatherings and meals.

Florece passed away June 6, 2023, at her home in North Zulch following a brief illness. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and sister, Peggy Venturella.

Surviving family members include daughter, Kristi Leigh Barrier of North Zulch; sister, Katie May (Don) of North Zulch; brother, James Lee “Jimmy” McCune (Shirley) of Marquez and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Pallbearers: Donald May, Scott May, Sammy Venturella, Darlon Venturella, Eli May, Keith McCune, Shawn McCune.

Arrangements were under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home.
