James Monroe “Jim” Diehl, 82 years, 9 months,11 days, a long-time resident of Madison County, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2024 in Tyler, TX. Cremation services are entrusted to the care of Day Funeral Home.

Jim was born on April 28, 1941 in Brady, TX to John Andrew and Mary Louise (Boyd) Diehl. He proudly served his country in The United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged earning the Vietnam Service Medal, the National Defense Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, the Bronze Star, and five letters of commendation. Jim was retired from The Brazos County Sheriff’s Department. Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Margret Ann (Murphey) Diehl; his brother, David Diehl; and his sister, Glenda Turner.

Jim is survived by his children, DeDe Christie and Carolyn, Frank, and Daniel Haislip; his seven grandchildren; and his two great grandchildren.
