Jean E. Kirby, a beloved mother, grandmother, and member of the Madisonville community, passed away peacefully on Nov. 9, 2023, in Madisonville. She was 88 years old.

Born on Aug. 18, 1935 in Tiffin, Ohio, Jean was known for her warm heart, infectious smile, and unwavering love for her family. She brought joy and laughter wherever she went and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Jean was often described as a “number one mom,” and she loved her family dearly. She enjoyed camping, boating, taking her family on vacations, cooking and card games.

Jean was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Andy Herman Monroe Kirby, Sr.; daughter, Linda Sue Kirby; grandsons, Billy Taylor and Kirby White; and great-grandson, Wyatt Kirby. She is survived by her children, Eva Fuller of Houston, Texas, Shirley Ann Hassler (Brett) of Centerville, Texas, Andy Kirby (Claryce) of Madisonville, Texas, Ricky Kirby of Ottawa, Illinois, Johnny Kirby (Polly) of Ottawa, Illinois, Jeannie White (Barry) of Cleveland, Texas, Dusty Kirby (Amy) of Madisonville, Texas; ten grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. A funeral service for Jean was held 2 p.m., Nov.15, 2023, at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. Bro. Greg Rogers officiated the service. Burial followed in Madisonville Cemetery.

Jean E. Kirby brought sunshine into the lives of all who knew her. Her kindness, generosity, and love will be remembered as a guiding light for years to come. May she find eternal peace and may her spirit continue to inspire us all.
