Jewell Imogene (Jones) Landers; 94 years, 2 months, 14 days; of Palestine, TX; passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday; July 15, 2023. Her life will be celebrated at 11AM on Thursday; July 20, 2023 at University Heights Baptist Church in Huntsville, TX with Bro. Richard Rogers officiating. The visitation is scheduled to begin at 10AM prior to the service and the burial will follow at Bedias Baptist Cemetery in Bedias, TX. Imogene, as she was known to her family and friends, was born on May 1, 1929 in Cooper, TX to James Olan and Jewel Estelle (Mills) Jones and was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Bennett Landers; her son, Walter Bennett Landers; and her siblings, James Manuel Jones, Drexel “Shorty” Jones, Marshall Waldo Jones, Hilda Mae (Jones) Sullivan, and Robert Mill Jones, and greatgreat grandson Noah Pourteau.

Imogene is survived by her daughters, Jene Lounette (Landers) Jefferson (Doug) and Jo Anne Landers; her grandchildren, Dawn Elizabeth Mabry Pourteau (Rusty), Kimberly Anne Mabry Orgeron (Brian), and William Bennett Mabry (Brittany); eight great grandchildren, thirteen great great grandchildren; and numerous nephews and nieces.

Imogene volunteered for many years at the Association for Retarded Citizens of Houston and the Caddo/Bossier Association of Retarded Citizens in Shreveport, LA. She was an avid blood donor who also gave during crisis.

Imogene loved making her home a warm, inviting place and was the original DIYer, taking Trash to Treasure, and Designing on a Dime.

But most of all, she loved her family and was a caregiver for numerous family members over her lifetime.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston TX.

Serving as pallbearers are; Steven Jones, Jim Bothwell, Christopher Jones, Cade Orgeron, Ben Mabry, and Ben Wright. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Rusty Pourteau and Brian Orgeron
