Jimmie “Joan” Anderson, 83, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on March 11, 2023, in Madisonville, Texas after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Joan was born on July 17, 1939 in Gladewater, Texas to Sarah (Brown) Kendrick and Lamoin Kendrick. Her mother died when Joan was four years old. Joan was then raised by her grandparents, Grace and Bill Rose.

Joan attended school in Gladewater where she met the love of her life, Jimmy D. Anderson. After graduating from Kilgore Jr. College in 1958, she married Jimmy on June 20, 1958.

Joan and Jimmy moved to Madisonville in September 1962 where she spent the rest of her life.

They had three children, Bobby (Stephanie), Kathy (Robert), and Jimmy Dee (Memory), who were the light in her eyes.

Joan began her working career as a secretary at Gladewater Municipal Hospital. After moving to Madisonville, she worked at P.M.

Standley’s Motor Co., Madison County Auction Barn, Dean Lumber Co. and Ray and Glyna Brown, CPA., until her retirement. She loved to read, bake, play cards with friends, trips to the lake, fishing, cookouts with friends, attending her children’s events, and later spending time with her six grandchildren and four greatgrandsons. She was a wonderful role model of what a Christian Mother should be and a blessing to many.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents; greatgrandparents; and greatgrandson, Bennett Gatlin. She is survived by her husband of almost sixty-five years, Jimmy; sons, Bobby Anderson (Stephanie) and Jimmy Dee Anderson (Memory); daughter, Kathy Lewis (Robert); grandchildren, Dana Lewis Gatlin (Brandon), Dane Lewis (Jessica), Jacob Anderson (Cristina), Cody Anderson, Dillion Anderson, Jarod Anderson; great-grandsons, Haden Zacharias, Gavin Lewis, Naythan Lewis, Lucas Anderson.

A funeral service for Joan will be held 12 P.M., Friday, March 17, 2023 at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas. A brief visitation will take place from 10 A.M. until time of the service. Bro. Beau Beavers will officiate.

Interment will follow at McAdams Cemetery.
