A graveside service for Bobby Watson, age 85, of Madisonville will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday, May 27, 2023, at Venetia Cemetery in rural Leon County, Texas.

Robert Freeman “Bobby” Watson was born March 30, 1938, in Venetia, Texas to William “Wayne” and Tommie Helen (Quinn) Watson. At the age of sixteen, he left home to work for Union Oil Company of California, which later became UNICAL, and he retired as a Senior Plant Mechanic.

He and his late wife, Sandy had lived in Madisonville since 1967, coming from Houston. They were both faithful members of First United Methodist Church, Madisonville.

Bobby enjoyed gardening and having coffee with his group of buddies every morning. Every Thursday, he would take a trip north to Leona to enjoy a plate of all-you-can-eat catfish at Leona General Store.

Bobby’s favorite food was any kind of fruit. He enjoyed being able to eat what he wanted, which was all of the fruit that he was allowed to have! Also, a bowl of Bluebell ice cream always hit the spot.

Bobby passed on to eternity with his Lord and Savior on May 14, 2023, in Bryan. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; wife, Sandy Watson; brothers, Jim & Wilber “Bally” Watson and sister, Virginia Watson.

Surviving family members include son & daughter-in-law, William & Kimberly Watson of Madisonville; daughter & son-in-law, Connie & Pat Simpson of College Station; grandchildren, Erick Simpson & wife, Megan of Houston and Kendall & Kaylee Watson of Madisonville, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great-nephews.

Arrangements are under the direction of Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville.
