Shirley Watson Dunn was born July 14, 1953 in Madisonville, Texas to parents, Berle Jake & Maureen (Winstead) Watson. She was a proud graduate of Texas A&M University and had a long and successful career in accounting and financing.

Shirley enjoyed being outdoors doing things, such as gardening, building campfires, crafts, painting deer stands, having picnics, fishing, and clearing trails. She especially enjoyed time spent with her family and loved cooking grand meals with her whole family together.

Helping others was a quality trait of Shirley’s and she loved her church family.

Having her husband, Mike by her side made Shirley’s life all the more enjoyable.

Whether they were working together or fussing at each other, they made a terrific team.

Being “Memaw” was Shirley’s greatest accomplishment and love.

Shirley tragically passed away March 13, 2023 near her home in Hilltop Lakes, Texas. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and sister, Barbara Watson.

Surviving family members include husband, Mike Dunn; brother, Marcus Watson (Jackie); children, Mark Newsom (Tara) and Michael Newsom; step-children, Amy Dunn (Sam) and Eric Dunn (Robin); grandchildren, Nick Newsom (Shelbi), Josie Newsom (fiance, Devin Nelson), Alex Noey (Tyla), Micah Newsom, Trace Dunn, Tanner Dunn, Tatum Dunn and Tillie Dunn and great-grandchildren, Landyn Newsom, Waylon Newsom, Carter Noey and Piper Noey, as well as a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and family who Shirley was “Memaw” to all.
