Vivian Mae Gray, age 78, passed away on Nov. 29, 2023 in College Station, Texas. She was born on Jan. 13, 1945, in Madisonville, Texas to Theodore Hamilton & Mary Carter, and spent her entire life in Madison County, leaving an indelible mark on all those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Vivian wore many hats throughout her life. She dedicated herself as a compassionate nurse, providing care and comfort to those in need. Her warm smile and gentle touch brought solace to countless patients during their times of healing. When she wasn’t lending her expertise in nursing, Vivian could be found waitressing at the Corral Restaurant, where she served countless meals with an unmistakable charm that made her a favorite among the regulars.

Community was important to Vivian, and she exemplified this through her selfless acts of volunteering. In earlier years, she devoted her time to the SonShine Center. Vivian’s giving spirit and dedication to making a difference in the lives of others will always be remembered.

Family time was precious to Vivian, and she cherished every moment spent with all of her family. Family bonds between all were unbreakable and many cherished memories were formed that will forever be held close to each loved one’s heart.

Vivian was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, John Robert Gray; son, Glenn Gray and brother, Charlie Glover.

Surviving family members include son, David Dewayne Gray (Kellie) of Midway; daughter, Scarlette Rena Bishop (Carl) of Normangee; brother, Billy Joe Glover (Linda) of Normangee; grandchildren, Destiny Bishop (Dustin Mittag), Caroline Bishop, Krystal Baldwin, Jessica Justice (Chris), David Gray, Jr. (fiancé, Erica Hinojosa); and great-grandchildren, Zoey Baldwin and Jayden Gray.

As we bid farewell to Vivian, we celebrate her life and the impact she had on our community. In honor of her memory, a celebration of life ceremony will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2023, at First Baptist Church, Normangee, Texas. Bro. Bob Shirley will officiate the service, assisted by Larry Grimes. Friends and loved ones are invited to join to share stories, find comfort, and pay tribute to a remarkable woman who brought joy and kindness into everyone’s lives.

Vivian Mae Gray’s legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched and the kindness she bestowed upon all. May she forever rest in eternal peace, knowing that her contributions to this world will never be forgotten.
