Lady Mustangs honor seniors

The Madisonville softball team honored their three seniors for senior night at MHS Thursday after falling 7-1 to first place China Spring in their final home district bout. The Lady Mustangs entered Tuesday’s district finale against Connally tied for the fourth and final playoff spot with La Vega, but could potentially finish as high as the three seed.

Madisonville Track Qualifiers

Numerous Madisonville track athletes advanced to the Area Meet for their performances in the District Meet in La Vega last week. The Area Meet began in Madisonville Monday and resumed Wednesday (the comprehensive results will run in next week’s publication). All six Madisonville Lil Dribblers All-Star teams took first place in the Regional Tournament this month to advance to the National Tournament in Franklin and surrounding areas last week. The 9/10 Boys (coached by Chris Whaley, Bobby Jones and Yolanda Whaley) and 9/10 Girls (coached by Cyrus Byrd, Chantel Briggs and Monita Byrd) squads took first at Nationals while the 11/12 Boys (coached by Brian McCloud, Lee Juarez and Keisha Johnson) and 13/14 Boys (coached by Alvin Dickey, Keelan Jones and Genique Merchant) teams both took second and the 11/12 Girls (coached by Rob Nellums, Unique Johnson and Shanae Johnson) and 13/14 Girls (coached by Otis Moten, Nefeteria Davis and Shemeka Morning) both took third.
