All basketball matchups in 4A’s District 18 were postponed Friday and Tuesday on the men’s and women’s side. Both Madisonville squads were slated to take on Robinson Friday and China Spring Tuesday. Both of these matchups have moved to Jan. 24 and Jan. 31, respectively.

The North Zulch women’s basketball team is fighting for the number two spot in their district down the stretch despite missing a number of key contributors due to injury. The Lady Bulldogs won four straight in district entering Tuesday, including a pair of victories over Calvert and Dime Box last week.

Tra'Dayja Smith wants her last year of basketball eligibility to be memorable. So, the Madisonville High School graduate is hoping the Longwood University women's basketball team is able to win the big games, enough to extend its season.

The Madisonville women's basketball opened their district slate with a 39-26 victory over Mexia at MHS Friday, their second matchup since returning to the court from a 13-day hiatus. The Lady Mustangs looked for their second straight victory in district with a road matchup in La Vega Tuesday.

Registration is now open for the 2022 Madisonville Little League season for both boys and girls ages 4-16. All registration will be done online and lasts until Jan.
