The Madisonville men’s soccer team dropped their first two district matchups of the season with a 4-2 loss to Diboll at MHS Feb. 2 and a 3-2 loss at Hudson Friday. The Mustangs returned home to host Palestine Tuesday.
The Madisonville women’s basketball team sent senior player Tra’Shayla Smith and manager La’Kyra Childress off on the right note Friday with a 50-40 win over Connally to conclude their season on senior night Friday. It was the third district win of the year for the young Lady Mustangs.
The shorthanded North Zulch women’s basketball team dropped their final matchup of the district season on senior night Thursday to Dime Box at NZHS. The loss did not alter the team’s second-place standing in the district.
The North Zulch men’s basketball team capped off a senior day contest against Richards with a thrilling, last-second victory Saturday to stay alive in a playoff race that remained undetermined at the time of this writing.

The Madisonville men’s basketball team fell to 4-4 in district play with losses to China Spring at MHS Feb. 2 and Connally in Waco Friday. The losses came after three straight district wins for the Mustangs.
North Zulch volleyball players Katelyn Crocker and Cheyanne Wallin earned All-State selections in 1A from the Texas Sports Writers Association (TXSWA) for their performances during the 2020 season. Crocker was named Second Team Libero while Wallin was named a Third Team Outside Hitter, both extremely prestigious selections that put the Lady Bulldog athletes among the best in the state.
The North Zulch ISD facilities committee discussed further plans to remodel their elementary school and surrounding areas during their third meeting in the school cafeteria Monday. The district has rescheduled their regularly scheduled monthly school board meeting, which will now take place Monday at 5:30 p.m. and feature a comprehensive presentation on the proposed project from the committee.
