Substitute Teacher Training

The Madisonville CISD Community Education Program will offer a substitute teacher training class beginning Monday, June 14 and lasting through Thursday, June 17, at Madisonville Elementary School. The class will meet from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the library. The registration fee is $35. RICHARD ROBINSON

Richard Robinson was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on May 22, 1934 to Agnes and Frank Robinson. He was the fourth of four sons and acquired the nickname “Dickie”. He was educated in the Philadelphia Public School system and upon High School graduation, enlisted in the United States Air Force. He had an exemplary military career which allowed him to travel extensively to Europe, North Africa, Canada, Southeast Asia, as well as Texas, California, and Utah; a career that included a tour of Vietnam where he was awarded the third-highest award for bravery in combat given by the United States Military, the Silver Star. This award honors service personnel who display exceptional valor while engaged in military combat operations against an enemy force. He went on to spend twenty-two years in the service of our country and received many commendations, medals, and awards for his devotion to duty and service to his country. He retired from the Air Force in 1972 as a Master Sergeant and Master Crew Chief. Richard pursued various other careers after retiring from the military.

Savannah Ann “Granny” Smith was born July 3, 1956 in Madisonville, Texas to parents, Arthur June and Lula Mae (Smith) Williams. Savannah accepted Christ under the leadership of Pastor James and Co-Pastor Davis at Free Pentecostal House of Prayer.

CHI St. Joseph’s Hospital in Madisonville will be hosting Wellness Wednesdays along with the Madison County Chamber of Commerce in which hospital personnel will educate attendees on particular health categories. National Day of Prayer

Rev. Jim Jackson of First United Methodist Church delivers remarks at Madison County’s National Day of Prayer celebration in front of the Courthouse Thursday. Multiple faith leaders and elected officials attended the service and offered remarks. The theme of the event was “Pray for our Country” and featured specific prayers for our nation’s institutions.
