DPS encourages Labor Day safety

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) encourages everyone to drive safely as they celebrate the unofficial end of summer during the long Labor Day weekend. The Texas Highway Patrol will be increasing enforcement from Sept. 3 through Sept. 6, looking for people not wearing their seat belts, speeders, people driving while intoxicated and drivers who fail to follow the state’s Move Over, Slow Down law, among other traffic violations.
Mustangs light up Diboll to start new campaign 1-0

Madisonville’s offense did not miss a beat despite a lightning delay that pushed the start of their 2021 season back over an hour in Friday’s 51-20 victory over Diboll at Mustang Stadium. Quarterback Jeramiah Burns led a rushing attack that logged over 400 yards while Blessing Ngene found pay dirt three times down the stretch.

New MadVille gym opens Wednesday

Madisonville fitness nuts, or those looking to get a (very) late start on their New Year’s resolutions, now have a new, modernized option as of Wednesday with the opening of Iron Fit Gym. The health club, located at the old auto parts and furniture stores on Highway 21, is owned by Wes Hammit and Brittney Bockman.

Regional Hospital was awarded the Get With The Guidelines ® - Stroke GOLD PLUS with Honor Roll Elite Plus award, the Mission: Lifeline® - STEMI Receiving Center – GOLD PLUS award, the Mission: Lifeline® - NSTEMI – GOLD award, and the Get With The Guidelines® - Heart Failure GOLD PLUS award. College Station Hospital has been awarded the Get With The Guidelines® - Stroke SILVER PLUS with Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll award, the Mission: Lifeline® - STEMI Receiving Center – SILVER PLUS award, and the Mission: Lifeline® - NSTEMI – BRONZE award.
MCISD adopts tax rate

The Madisonville CISD school board held a brief special meeting Monday to adopt a tax rate and budget for the 2021-22 school year, which remained essentially the same as the prior year. The total tax rate was passed at $1.1787 with $1.01980 on the Maintenance and Operations and $0.1589 on debt services.
