22-year-old Madisonville local Luke Alan Marshall lost his life Thursday when he was struck by a pick-up truck while traveling east opposite traffic in the right-hand lane on East Main Street in Madisonville with his bicycle at approximately 5:50 a.m.

Liberty outscored Madisonville 28-0 after a thrilling first quarter at MHS Friday to cruise to a 42-14 win over the Mustangs behind a relentless rushing attack. Madisonville travels to Teague for their first road matchup Friday in hopes of improving to 2-1 to start the young campaign.
Groundbreaking on the construction of a new 65,000 water storage tank took place Tuesday at the City of Midway’s Booster plant located on School Road. The Midway City Council voted for improvements to their water treatment system during a regular city council meeting June 28.
Madisonville travels to Teague in week three Friday for their first road matchup of the season against the Lions at 7:30 p.m. Lion Stadium is located at 420 Loop 255 in Teague, Texas. Madisonville’s diverse backfield kept the Diboll Lumberjacks’ defense on their heels throughout the duration of Friday’s 51-20 victory at Mustang Stadium to open the season. All told, Mustang backs totaled 421 yards, 176 of which came courtesy of quarterback Jeramiah Burns, and five rushing touchdowns.
Madisonville’s defense kept Diboll off the scoreboard in the first and fourth quarters of Friday’s season opener to help the team cruise to a 31-point victory at home to start the season. Outside of a couple big plays, the Lumber jacks struggled to find a consistent rhythm and keep up on the offensive side of the ball.

The Madisonville volleyball team competed in two standalone matchups against Caldwell Aug. 24 and Teague Friday and reached the championship of the silver bracket in a tournament in Anderson over the weekend.
