Madisonville’s offense showcased resilience throughout Friday’s 31-28 district loss to Rusk at MHS while battling from behind early and often. It wasn’t until late in the first quarter that the offense took the field for the first time after the team surrendered an early touchdown and field goal after an onside kick.

A Little History of a Little Town’s Hospital

As a member of the Madison County Historical Commission, I have the privilege of writing a daily article for our Facebook page, titled “On this day, in Madison County History”. While researching Sunday’s article, I came across a lot of information about the history of the Madison County Hospital. Given the fact that this is a “hot topic” due to the upcoming Hospital District initiative on the November 2 ballot, I thought that folks might like to see where we’ve come from and where we are now. Most of this information was pulled from Volume I: The History of Madison County. Here is an excerpt from that article:

The Midway Volunteer Fire Department held their 15th Annual Fall Fest Bar-B-Que “Texas State Championship” Cook-Off Friday and Saturday at their Midway location. Categories included brisket, chicken, pork spare ribs, beans and Bloody Marys. A silent and live auction was also held Saturday. JON DEELEY

Last Saturday, the Llano Country Opry put on a star-studded show at the Lantex Theater in Llano, TX, and our own Colby Sheppard of Madisonville, Texas performed. Colby, the son of Shelli and Troy Sheppard, who started off learning to play the fiddle at age 4 with his grandfather Donnie Colwell, even performed at that early age at Western Swing Music Concerts.
