The little dog, the skunk and me

Body
Recently I went to check some live traps near the house. I took our little terrier dog with me, a mistake, as there was a skunk in one of the traps. As I was sneaking up to dispose of the skunk the little dog started barking and not only did the dog get sprayed but I was included. Problem number two my wife wouldn’t let me in the house smelling like that. I had to go into the garage and take my blue jeans and shirt off. She has a special way or process to get rid of the smell and now my blue jeans and shirt smell clean and fresh. That event reminds me of something in the Bible. God is Holy and will not allow sin in His presence, (1 Samuel 2:2, Proverbs 6:16-19). But we are all sinners and separated from God. We inherited that sin nature from Adam, and it has passed on to every living human being, (Romans 5:12, 3:23, 1 John 1:8). Unless something is done about our sin we will never be allowed to be with God, (John 8:21). But God loves us and wants to forgive our sins and there is one only way our sins can be forgiven, (John 14:6). The shed blood of Jesus Christ shed on the cross is the only way, (1 John 3:8, John 1:29, Romans 6:22, Hebrews 9:28).

Results from the Madisonville Baseball Invitational

Body
The start of the season for the Mustangs Varsity baseball team has been explosive as they win their hometown tournament after four electrifying matches against tough competition. It started with a match against the Krum Bobcats, who at times during the match seemed to have the Mustangs by their tails, but the team stole the lead late in the game with an incredible sac fly by Caden Miller, which helped the team get away from an early tie of five.

First Baptist Church Women’s Retreat

Body
Over 120 women attended Madisonville First Baptist Church Women’s Retreat Saturday, with many area churches represented. Leah Holder Green, who serves in a full-time Christian Ministry as a bible study curriculum developer at Second Baptist Church in Houston, Texas, was this year’s guest speaker. She is now pursuing a Master of Art in Christian Education Studies at Dallas Theological Seminary. Mrs. Green’s message focused on 1 Peter 1:3, “Hope Lives and Hope Gives.” Hope lives because Jesus has risen and lives today, and we know our inheritance is waiting in heaven, never to be lost. Hope gives us endurance for tomorrow and joy during sorrow. God can meet us in the darkness. The music for this year’s event was by Wendy Hunt with the assistance of her husband, Warren Hunt, the Minister of Music at Madisonville First Baptist Church; Betty Coleman provided this year’s meals.
