DR. DON JOSEPH EKVALL

Born to SSgt Joseph Lee Holitzke and Martha Ann Navratil in Liberty, Texas on August 22, 1943, his father was killed in action during WWII before he turned one. Donnie, as he was always called, was raised by multiple family members in Dayton, Texas who became legends in the stories he told…Uncle Joe, Uncle Ed, Aunt Betty, and his grandmother who didn’t speak English, so he only spoke Czech for the first six years of his life. His mother re-married Carl Ekvall, who adopted Donnie and who was the man who he always thought of as his father.

CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF Wanda Zenota “Zoe” Withers Wanda Zenota “Zoe” Withers, 98 years, born September 13, 1924, in Silsbee, Texas, passed away peacefully on March 27, 2023, at her home The Wellington in Conroe, Texas. Zoe was a beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, aunt, and friend to many throughout her life. She was born to Alice (Meriwether) and Rashie Bert Marshall, Sr. in Silsbee, Texas, the sixth of seven children. Her mother was a charter member of First Baptist Church of Silsbee influencing Zoe and siblings at an early age to love Christ, believe in salvation and sing His praises. Singing was one of Zoe’s talents, and she sang popular 1940s tunes when selected to sing in a Big Band Era orchestra.

Timothy Randell Karber; 82 years, 1 month, 28 days; of Madisonville, Texas, who was our dear beloved husband, father, and grandfather; went to be with his Heavenly Father on Tuesday; March 28, 2023, in College Station, Texas, with his children by his side. Randell’s life will be celebrated at 2:00 PM on Saturday; April 1, 2023, at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville, Texas, with Bro. Wayne Scott officiating. The burial will follow the service at Ten Mile Cemetery in Normangee, Texas. The visitation is scheduled to begin at 1:00 PM prior to the service.
