May is National Foster Care Month and this week five families who all attend Madisonville Christian Fellowship Church are happily celebrating additions to their families. After three long years of fostering some sweet kiddos five couples in our community, the Wakefields, the Hathorns the Wells , the Cloptons and the Millers have officially adopted seven children between them with ages 3, 4, 6, 8, 8, 9, and 16.

The First Credit System

Body
Recently at the Museum I found several printed pages stapled together, and I do not know when they arrived at the Museum or how. The title reads “Store Money or Store Tokens, the First Credit Card”, by Tom Rhodes. I had an uncle by marriage, Thomas Rhodes, but he died in 1986. I’d bet a hundred bucks he wasn’t the author of the piece in question, and I’m ignorant as to who this Tom Rhodes is or was. The papers appear much newer than 1986 and it’s my guess they are the product of a modern computer and printer, and fairly recent. The pages show no sign of age and could have been generated yesterday! I’m sharing the piece next but with an insert near the end of some other local history.

The luncheon has been a tradition for at least 60 years, and this year's class of 2023 was described as a 'really special class' by Kristi Cleere, one of the organizers.
