The Madison County Commissioners Court met on Tuesday, Oct.10, to address a range of crucial matters, from fiscal decisions to community initiatives. One of the highlights of the meeting was the submission of the District Judges' Order, endorsing the salary and budget proposal for the auditor and assistant auditor.

Normangee — On Saturday, Oct 14, the Madison County Sheriff's Office was called upon for assistance at approximately 9:58 a.m., responding to reports of a potentially intoxicated individual at the local ball field in Normangee.

The Madisonville City Council convened in a recent meeting, addressing a range of resolutions and ordinances crucial to the city's governance. First on the agenda was the unanimous acceptance of a resolution designating the Madisonville Meteor as the official newspaper of record.

Three talented competitive dancers from Madisonville have been selected for a prestigious opportunity following their standout performances at the Rainbow Dance competition. Kamryn, Presley, and Raylee, who are from Madisonville, were individually chosen from a highly competitive pool of thousands of dancers at the Rainbow Dance competition to travel to New York and have a masterclass with the world-renowned Rockettes.

Bethel Cemetery lies in Grimes County, just south of our county line. It has a state historical marker and is older than Madison County, which was created from Grimes, Leon, and Walker counties and by the State legislature on January 27, 1853, and organized in August 1854. Dates are illegible on some Bethel gravestones, but John Hope Byers was buried there, having lived 1802-1850. Obviously 1850 preceded 1853.

Brenda Sue (Leach) Robinson, 76 years, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023, in Centerville, TX. Brenda’s life will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Wednesday, October 11, 2023, at Day Funeral Home Chapel in Madisonville with the burial to follow at Rock Prairie Cemetery in Madisonville. Bro. Dean Ferguson will officiate. The visitation is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. prior to the service.
