1953 -2024 Lucinda White was a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many during her time with us. With heavy hearts, we mourn her passing on Jan. 29, 2024, at the age of 70 years.

1958 -2024 Travis Cannon, 65 years, 9 months, 3 days of Madisonville, TX, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024 in Bryan, TX. Graveside were scheduled for 2 p.m.

The February meeting of the Madison County Retired School Personnel had as its guest speakers two wellknown and accomplished educators, Sandra Guice and Prince Fite, giving background information on Black History Month.

Despite walking around in muddy grounds at NZVFD, community members and cooks supported the annual event Sat., Feb. 3. 

The QuickVisit Urgent Care clinic, a healthcare provider in Madisonville, closed its doors, leaving the community to seek alternatives for urgent medical care. The clinic expressed gratitude for the trust and opportunity to serve Madisonville’s residents over the past few years.

Republican voters across the state will spend decidedly more time navigating the March 5 primary ballot than their Democrat counterparts — that is, unless they come prepared. The Republican Party of Texas is asking Republican voters to respond to the 2024 Republican primary Ballot Propositions by answering YES or NO to questions about 13 hot-button issues.

Madison County Girl Scouts Troop no. 9504 donated a variety of goods for dogs and cats to the Madisonville Animal Shelter Thursday, Feb. 1. 

The Museum’s new exhibit focused on schools here is still incomplete, but it’s better than it was last week. This past Saturday I moved something special in the Museum window closest to the door. It’s a rendition of the Madisonville High School building that closed in the summer of 1969. I hope some of you will enjoy it.

The Texas Education Agency’s annual report was released last week. It indicates per-student funding in the 2021-2022 school year averaged $14,928 per student, up 42% since 2011.
