The North Zulch Volunteer Fire Department announced they can now start their new fire station project, thanks to the success of their latest chili cook-off event. The fundraiser surpassed its financial target and enabled the department to start looking for bids on the construction of the new station.
North Zulch ISD PTO Launches 2024 Prom Closet Donation Drive

The North Zulch Independent School District Parent-Teacher Organization is excited to announce the launch of its 2024 Prom Closet Donation Drive. The NZISD PTO is calling on the generous support of the community to contribute gently used gowns, shoes, men’s wear, and accessories for high school students in Brazos Valley.

Senate support sought for “Hello Girls” Congressional Gold Medal

In 2018, Texas A&M American History chair and author Elizabeth Cobbs presented an overview of her book, “The Hello Girls: America’s First Women Soldiers,” to the Robert Raines Chapter-National Society Daughters of the American Revolution in Navasota. Cobbs heavily researched book shares the experiences of the forgotten female telephone operators known as The Hello Girls, the first women to serve in the U.S. Army Signal Corps and “selected to operate the vital communication network that helped win World War I.”

Lately I’ve focused on the high school before the current one but have yet to learn when our colors changed from green and gold to red and blue. Also, the late Hugh Clark told his granddaughter that our mascot had been eels before becoming Mustangs. Perhaps he thought that because of The Octopus, the first yearbook. If you know facts about colors or the mascot, when, why, or whatever, please clue me in.
Largest wildfire in state history still raging

A wildfire in the Texas Panhandle has consumed more than 1 million acres and as of Sunday was just 15% contained, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service. It is the largest wildfire in Texas history.
