Commissioners court convenes for first time since Starr resignation

This commissioners court meeting Tuesday, June 11, signified the first meeting for Steve Parrish, now commissioner over Precinct 1, after the formal resignation of Ken Starr. The first discussion on the action item side of the agenda was the abolishment of the Salary Review Committee and the removal of all references to it from the Madison County Personnel Policy, effective immediately.

There is no greater heartache for a parent than a tragedy befalling their child. Madisonville couple Angelique and Pedro Guillen are living their own personal nightmare in what has become their home- awayfrom- home at Texas Children’s Hospital in the Houston Medical Center. Sunday, June 2, their now 20-month-old son Isaac sustained a traumatic brain injury in what is believed to be an attempt to climb into, or a fall from, the bed of his father’s pickup truck.

Rebuilding Warriors, a non-profit organization dedicated to training service dogs for veterans held an event in Madisonville on Sunday, June 2. Their mission statement reads, “Saving warriors one dog at a time,” which was on full display as veterans and their families gathered to learn more about the life-changing impact of service dogs.
