Madison County held a budget workshop on Tuesday, July 9, to bring the commissioners up to speed about what departments are doing with their budgets. The commissioners had notebooks presented to them from the county, as well as other reports necessary to facilitate the process.

As power outages continue after Hurricane Beryl caused significant wind damage to areas within the county, the First Baptist Church of Madisonville has stepped up to support the community as the heat picked up during the day on Tuesday, July 9.

Residents of Madison County are recovering from the impact of Hurricane Beryl, a Category 1 hurricane that made landfall near Matagorda, Texas, on Monday, July 8. Before the storm hit Madison County, Judge Clark Osborne addressed the community via a Facebook post, urging preparedness yet reminding residents that it could weaken to a tropical storm or depression by the time it reached the county.

Hurricane Beryl ravaged from Matagorda through Houston and Madison County on Monday, July 8. The next day, the commissioners court proceeded as scheduled while the courthouse annex ran on generators.
