Mary Ann Curtis was born on December 15, 1950, to Genord and Leola (Jackson) Nealey in Midway, Texas. She attended school at A.V. Lee in Midway, Texas and later moved to Marian Anderson School in Madisonville, Texas.

Medal of Valor Awarded to Madison County Deputies

Two Madison County sheriff's deputies were honored with the Medal of Valor for rescuing four people from a burning vehicle on Interstate 45, according to a letter from Chief Deputy Curtis Klingle.

Cpl. Frank McIntyre and Deputy Aurelio Cuevas received the department's highest honor for bravery after pulling victims from a van that had crashed and burst into flames just after midnight on Saturday, Aug. 3.
