The FC Mustangs youth soccer club had a strong showing at two premier tournaments over the Thanksgiving weekend. At the Barcelona International Tournament, held Friday through Sunday, the Mustangs had success across multiple age groups.

During the fall athletics season, North Zulch High School has become one of just a handful of Class 1A schools in the state of Texas to establish a wrestling program. Under the guidance of head coach and educator Matthew Collins, who oversees both the boys’ and girls’ squads, the new program has worked to incorporate the values of a growing sport into their community.

Madison County Commissioners Court approved a one-time premium pay Tuesday totaling $159,819.45 from American Rescue Plan Act funds, benefiting approximately 70 county employees. “It is a one-time lump sum payment, not a raise,” County Auditor Susan Pugh said during the regular meeting.
