Senate Bill 260, which passed the Texas Senate on March 12, will double school safety funding by boosting per-student and per-campus allotments under the Foundation School Program. The bill increases per-student funding from $10 to $28 and doubles the per-campus allocation from $15,000 to $30,000.

1951-2025 Suzette Ferrell Rogers was born January 22, 1951, to Luther and Ruby (Henderson) Ferrell in Bryan, Texas. Suzette grew up in North Zulch where she participated in her church and school.

1970-2025 Steven Wayne Morgan, 54, was born on July 23, 1970, to proud parents, Otis Wayne and Bettie Lou (Ridge) Morgan in Corsicana, Texas and passed away at his residence in Madisonville, Texas on February 27, 2025. Steven will be fondly remembered by many as a man with a strong work ethic, something that developed at the young age of thirteen, who had what it took to get things done.

For the first time in school history, Madisonville band students achieved a “Triple Crown” at the University Interscholastic League Concert and Sight Reading competition, marking a perfect year for the program.

North Zulch ISD is proud to announce a Free special community-wide event on March 15, 2025, at the North Zulch ISD Track from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. This exciting event will feature a USDA-sponsored taste testing, recognizing the dedication and efforts of the MyPlate Student Ambassadors at North Zulch ISD. The four MyPlate Student Ambassadors (Jaycee E., Gracie B., William K. and Dawn B.) helping bring this event to North Zulch are also members of the North Zulch ISD Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) Chapter. The district is among only five schools in Texas selected for this honor, providing a unique opportunity for students, teachers, and the community to sample and provide feedback on new, nutritious food options.

Madison County Retired School Personnel gathered for their March meeting to learn valuable technology skills from a guest presenter. The group met on Thursday, March 6 at the First Baptist Church conference room where Karen McDonald delivered a presentation focused on smartphone applications and features.

The Madisonville High School Lady Mustang volleyball program announced its summer camp schedule for 2025. The Lady Mustang Camp for incoming second through eighth-grade students will take place May 7-9 at Madisonville High School.

The Madison County Fair Association will host a Youth Dance Thursday, March 27. The dance includes two separate time slots.
