A Madison County sergeant pulled a man back from the Spur 67 bridge railing Thursday, April 30, after the man climbed over and expressed intent to take his own life, according to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office.

The Bedias Creek Soil and Water Conservation District plans to apply for state operation and maintenance funds for two flood control structures it oversees in Madison County. Tony Resendez, flood control specialist with the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board, told directors Monday, May 4, that approximately $2.9 million remains in the state’s operations and maintenance fund.

Madisonville High School will lose its principal and band director when the school year ends in May. Shelli Sheppard graduated from MHS in 1987 and returned to the district to teach in 1992.
