The Madison County Library will hold a Summer Reading Program, though it will look a little different from previous years. In-person learning and craft sessions will not be held at the library, but people of all ages can participate by completing reading bingo cards or reading logs, and grab-n-go activity bags will be available for kids. Bingo cards are filled with fun ideas and activities for the little ones in addition to reading. The cards for older readers are full of challenges that encourage readers to read books outside their norm. Ideas include cookbooks, a new-to-you author, science fiction, a book made into a movie, and much more. Reading logs will record book titles, authors, and the amount of time spent reading.

Grab-n-Go Activity Bags will be available for Early Readers (Babies through Preschool), Young Kids (Kinder through 2nd grade), Older Kids (3rd through 5th grade), and Tweens & Teens, and may include activity ideas, recipes, writing prompts, book recommendations, craft ideas, and ready-to-make crafts.

This summer’s theme is “Imagine Your Story” and it’s all about fairy tales, folk tales, and mythology, and will be reflected in the activity bag contents. It will run from June 1 to July 30. Registration begins the week of April 26. Bingo cards or reading logs are turned in by July 30 for an entry into a prize drawing the first week in August.
