MADISONVILLE HOSTS FIRST HISPANIC HERITAGE FESTIVAL
Lake Madison Park hosted Madisonville’s first Hispanic Heritage Festival on Saturday. The event featured local vendors, food, and live music.
“Seeing how everyone came together no matter the race brought tears to my eyes. We were all united that’s all that matters,” Zoraida Armenta Garcia, one of the event organizers, said.
Organized in less than two months, the festival attracted visitors who browsed vendor booths. Many vendors sold out their wares.
City Councilperson Melissa Hinojosa, who founded the event, commented on its purpose.
“From the very beginning, one of my main goals was to leave something meaningful, something that would have a lasting impact on our community, especially the Latino community,” Hinojosa said.
Hinojosa acknowledged the role of volunteers and sponsors.
“Although I am proud to have founded and started this event, it never would have been possible without the unconditional support of our sponsors and the hard work of committee volunteers,” Hinojosa said.
The City of Madisonville has adopted the Hispanic Heritage Festival as an annual event.
Garcia expressed gratitude for the community’s support.
“Thanks to your efforts and generosity, we will be able to continue to move forward with this event,” Garcia said.
Hinojosa looked ahead to future celebrations.
“I’m beyond excited for what the future holds, and I can’t wait to see how this event continues to grow. Thank you all again for your support and start getting your floats ready for next year’s parade!” Hinojosa said.
