An individual with a deep, male voice called in a bomb threat to American Glass & Mirror on May Street in Madisonville Dec. 9, resulting in a thorough and immediate investigation on-scene by local law enforcement officials.

“He said there’s a bomb in the building,” said Pam McLain, an employee with American Glass & Mirror who answered the threatening phone call at roughly 10:30 a.m. Dec. 9. “I just hung up because I thought, ‘yeah, right’. But I then decided to call the police.”

McLain described the voice as that of a male adult. She could not think of anyone who may possess a grievance toward the establishment that could have prompted the sinister stunt.

After wthe area was cleared, the Madisonville Police Department, along with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a search of the outside perimeter. The Texas A&M

University Police Department K9 Unit was then called upon to assess the interior of the building. No explosive or suspicious content was found.

The Madisonville Volunteer Fire Department also assisted in securing the surrounding areas of the establishment during the process.

The incident was being investigated by the Madisonville P.D. at the time of this writing.

“The plan is to trace the phone call,” said Madisonville P.D. Chief Herbert Gilbert Monday.
