Round-the-clock roadwork began to complete the intersection of FM 39 and OSR from 1st Street to Hall Street in Normangee Monday and was expected to take five days to complete at the onset of the project, according to a Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) press release.

“During that time, flaggers and law enforcement will be in place to conduct traffic safely through the work zone,” said the Thursday release. “Drivers should expect delays or seek alternate routes.”

In the same release, TxDOT announced SH OSR will be closed from the East City Limit of Normangee to FM 2289 in order to reconstruct the roadway beginning Monday at 7 a.m. Through traffic will utilize the marked detour of FM 2289, FM 978 and FM 39.

“Access for local property owners and permanent residences will be maintained at all times during the construction project,” said the release. “The work within this closure is expected to be completed this summer. Drivers should reduce speed and maintain safe traveling distances between vehicles. To alert drivers to the lane closures and detours, construction signs and changeable message signs will be placed along the route.”
