Evelyn Quezada 7th Grade ELA - Ms. Rios Portals While Jesabelle and Eneda were trick-or-treating they looked around and realized they were the only ones. The streets and sidewalks were empty, not a person in sight. Soon, all of the lights from the houses turned off. Then all the street lights start to turn off, one by one, only leaving one light on at the end of the street. Jesabelle and Eneda start to run to the last street light and it was right next to a small, old shed. They open the door and feel a strong breeze. Coming from inside the shed is a bright purple light. The girls walk into it and let out loud screams.
No one ever heard from them again.
Coy Willis
Coy Willis 7th Grade ELA - Ms. Rios Not As It Seems John was waiting in line at a haunted house with his friends Mark and Bob.
John needs to go to the bathroom so he leaves the line. On his way to the bathroom, he feels a tap on his shoulder. John turns around and it’s a man wearing a mask and baseball hat. The man swings his bat at John and it knocks him out instantly. John later wakes up in a large white van full of other children. The van all of a sudden stops and they are at an old cabin now. John also notices that he has handcuffs on and so do the other children. The man makes the children walk in a line down into his basement.
The basement is dark and cold, the door is locked shut. John is down there for weeks doing hard labor. The only food source they had were the rats and cockroaches that infest the basement.
Then, after months, the door unlocks and opens. The man appears in the doorway. He tells the kids to get back into his van because he’s going to get more kids and he doesn't want them to escape the basement.
John and the other kids get lined up to get into the van. The man pulls up to a house, watching and inspecting it. He notices that there’s a kid home alone and their parents have left. That’s when the man strikes. He gets out of the van and approaches the house.
Just then, John notices that this is his time to escape. He squeezes his hands out of the handcuffs and his hands get cut from them. John then breaks the window open with his foot and he leaves the other kids behind. Right as he got out of the van, the man came out of the house and noticed him.
John then runs for his life while the man hops in the van and drives after him. John is not fast enough. The man hits him with his van.
All of a sudden, John wakes up and it was all just a dream. When John was in line with his friends, he had passed out because he was getting nervous and scared to go into the haunted house.
That night, Mark and Bob had to embarrassingly walk John home.

Baylee Baker
Baylee Baker 7th Grade ELA - Ms. Rios A Haunting Experience You agree to visit a haunted house with friends.
Your group is anxiously waiting in line when you feel a tap on the shoulder… You turn around but you don’t see anything, so you just keep waiting in line. It was a very cold and damp night. In the distance you can hear wolves howling, people chatting, and the eerie sound of the carnival haunted house. You can hear the moans of the people waiting in line to get inside.
Slowly but surely, the line was moving. After 30 long and cold minutes, you finally step foot into the haunted house, but right before you step in with your other foot, you feel another cold, lifeless tap.
You turn around and once again, you don’t see anyone. After 20 minutes, you’re only half way through. As you’re walking down the long, dark hallway, you feel like someone or something is watching you and you get shivers down your spine. You hear someone breathing down your back. You keep moving.
Praying that you will get out soon. As you’re walking down the candle lit hallway. You just imagine all the nerve shaking things that could have tapped you on the shoulder. Trying not to think about it, you keep on walking. As you’re walking, you think you hear footsteps. So you start walking faster. You can hear them getting closer so you start sprinting. It continues to get closer, closer, and closer. As your running, you trip and fall. You scramble to get up. When you think you see the light, you feel something trying to touch you. As you think it’s all over for you, your friend comes out and asks if you're coming. Looking back, you say yes. Just as you’re walking out, you still wonder what that was, and you wonder if you will ever find out… –The End –
Peter the Stealing Clown By: Malley M.
There once was a clown with green hair and a big red nose. His name was Peter. He wore purple clothes that were too big and large red shoes. Peter was a big fan of candy. When he saw a kid with candy he would sneak up behind them and take all the candy they had and run off to eat it himself. It didn't take long for people to catch on and soon everyone watched out for Peter. His game became boring!
Peter decided to move away to a new town. He found the town of Benton, but he didn't know this town had a secret. The town was run by Kallie Strong 7th Grade ELA - Ms. Rios A Not So Cheesy Haunted House Anxiously waiting in line at the haunted house with friends, I felt a tap on my shoulder.
I agreed to go to the haunted house. Bad idea, but I couldn’t tell Jade and Axel no. They were my best friends. I’ve known them both since 4th grade. We’re literally freshmen already. I can’t let them think I’m a wimp, especially not Axel. I’ve liked him since we met. I mean who wouldn’t? Broad shoulders, ice blue eyes, and blonde, tousled hair. Jade had a beautiful complexion, brown eyes, and curly blonde waves of hair. When we were in the line, I felt a tap on my shoulder. It was cold, almost like an icicle. I turn around to find Axel and Jade cracking up.
“Why are you so jumpy?” asked Axel.
“Yeah! Did you think it was a ghost?” prompted Jade sarcastically. I rolled my eyes and said “No!...
Why would I be scared of a ghost?”
Jade looked as if she was going to say something, but then she stopped herself. She went pale.
I looked at her and she pointed behind me. I turned around to see an otherworldly figure staring into my soul.
“Boo!” he yelled. I screamed and jumped back.
I turned to tell Jade to run, and instead of screaming she was rolling in a fit of giggles. I whipped around to find Axel doubled over, mask in hand, red in the face, dying of laughter! I glared at them as the worker asked us for 2 tickets each.
Cheap for a carnival. As we went witches! These witches did not like bad people. They didn't like new people either. So they were really watching Peter.
Peter had been doing really good with not stealing candy from anyone since moving the Benton. Then, one day Peter decided to go to the zoo. As he was leaving the zoo he spotted a little boy with candy. He tried to ignore the little boy, but the candy looked so good. Peter snuck up behind the little boy and stole his candy right out of his hand and took off running.
As he was running he tripped and fell. He wasn't sure what had tripped him until he turned around.
That's when he saw the witch! She inside, you could tell it was one of those cheesy, overpriced haunted houses. Like come on, a vampire coming out of a coffin? What are we, three?
“Ya’ll this is a cute gimmick, but it’s for toddlers.” I said boredly.
“Yeah, my dog’s scarier than this.
And she’s literally a tea-cup Yorkie.”
Jade said, making a small cup with her hands. Just then I felt a cold chill. Almost like a breeze. Then something dripped on me. First my shoulder, then my shoe.
“Aww man!! Something dripped on my shoe!” I said, trying not to sound thoroughly shaken. “I have on a white pair of shoes! And shirt!”
I said looking over to show Axel.
Then I smelt it. Metallic. Iron.
Blood.
“That sucks Julia!” said Axel with a hint of sympathy. My heart kicked into gear. The loud thump-thump was almost deafening. Although, not because of Axel. Jade. She was gone. Axel realized her absence.
“I’m sure she is trying to prank you, like in line” he said, flirtatiously.
Elbowing me gently in the ribs.
Normally I would have blushed, but there was nothing normal about that night. Then I saw it. Up ahead.
An outline; an outline of a body. I ran to it praying for it to be part of the haunted house. Some overpaid highschooler. I poked the figure with a hesitant toe. No movement.
No breathing. Nothing. I used my whole foot to roll it over. I screamed. Jade. Unrecognizable. So pale and battered. I screamed as a hand touched my shoulder. I turned and swung. I would make it out of here.
“Crap Jules! IT’S ME!” I hear Axel grunt. I socked him square in the had tripped him with her broom! She was wearing a black dress with a tall black hat. She had red hair and white skin. But there were 2 of them! This witch held Peter down with her broom while the other witch took the candy from him and flew over to return it to the little boy.
When the other witch came back they jumped on Peter and started to tickle him! They tickled him nonstop until he said he would never steal candy from anyone again! Once he said that he got up and they chased him out of the town of Benton. No one has ever heard from Peter the clown ever again!
jaw. I’m crying now.
“Jade…Sh..h..she’s d-d-eaddd–” The word won’t leave my tongue.
Axel wraps me in an embrace. I try to breathe. “We’ll get out of here Jules. I swear.” he let’s me go. Then I hear it. My hair stands on end. My blood turns to ice in my veins. A voice. Ghostly. Hollow almost.
“Juliaaaaa…… Axxxellllll” Then a soft fading of footfalls.
We run as fast as possible, but we’re too slow. He catches us, with otherworldly speed. Axel is violently yanked into the air. I scream and run faster, not wanting to leave him, but not wanting to get caught. Fear fueled my legs, making me pump them harder. Then I saw it, the red glow of the exit. I burst out into a crowd of people. Laughing, smiling, unaware of the active killer. I ran to an event worker. She seemed preoccupied, not noticing the frantic teenager who just left her friend to his death. So I ran to a nearby officer. When I tried to shake her, my hand passed through her. She moved, I thought. I yelled, trying to get her attention. She turned. “Oh thank God! Officer there’s a killer in the haunted house! Please you have to–” “What can I help you with, ma’am?” she asked, staring through me. Not at me, through me. Then a woman’s body passed through me.
“Have you seen three high school aged children? Two girls and a boy?
They went through the haunted house” my mom asked. I yell, telling her I’m here. If she could look my way, I could tell her. She won’t hear me though. No one ever will. Not with me being dead.
