Madison County preps for energy projects, joins regional commission

Commissioners Court voted Tuesday to form a sub-regional planning authority with neighboring counties and keep watch over potential large-scale energy projects in Madison County. The resolution April 14 created the East-Central Texas Intergovernmental Planning and Infrastructure Commission (ECIPIC) in an attempt to hold solar farms, battery storage systems or data centers coming to the area accountable, officials said.

Midway adopts 2024 building codes, splits grant accounts

MIDWAY — The Midway Board of Aldermen approved a dozen new construction codes and restructured the city’s grant fund accounts during a meeting Monday, April 13. Ordinance 2026-07 adopts the full 2024 International Code Council suite, covering building, residential, fire, plumbing, mechanical, fuel gas, energy conservation, property maintenance, swimming pool and spa, zoning and private sewage disposal standards, along with the 2023 National Electrical Code.

North Zulch FCCLA students win state offices, nationals berths

Special to the Meteor DALLAS — Two North Zulch Independent School District students won state offices and three competitors advanced to the national competition at the Texas FCCLA Leadership Conference April 8-11. Harper Richie was elected state president of the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America.
