Navasota student killed in Bedias shooting

BEDIAS – Grimes County Sheriff’s Deputies are investigating a murder in Bedias that claimed the life of a Navasota Independent School District student, 18-year-old Anthony Demilo Williams.

Just before 11 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, Grimes County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the area of Leon and Sycamore Street in Bedias. There were multiple reports of gunshots in the area, then dispatchers received a call about a possible gunshot victim.

Authorities located Williams at the scene and he was transported to a nearby Grimes St. Joseph’s Medic station a few blocks away. Deputies were advised the victim was unconscious and quit breathing. Medical personnel began lifesaving efforts and Williams was transported to Madisonville St. Joseph’s Emergency Room. Shortly after arriving, Williams succumbed to his injuries. He was declared deceased by Madison County Justice of the Peace Pct. 1, Jon Stevens.

According to a press release by Grimes County Sheriff’s Office, Williams’ body was transported to Southwest Forensic Sciences at Dallas in Dallas County for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Grimes County Sheriff Investigators, Grimes County District Attorney’s Office and the Texas Rangers are actively working the case, attempting to identify the suspects in the case as of late Tuesday afternoon.

Williams was a student at Navasota ISD’s W.B. Bizzell Academy.
