ANN JORDY
Ann Jordy passed away at her home with her family by her side, now to be with Jesus in Heaven with a host of family and friends.
Born 11/12/1928, Departed 11/29/2021 at 93 years of age.
Born to Irene and Jonathan Samuel Collard in the piney woods of Walker County. At the age of 3, her family moved to Jenkins in Madison County where they raised cotton, had a garden, sold eggs and made molasses. She later attended school in Madisonville. She played baseball, helped create the first hardback school annual. She was very smart and was able to skip a grade in school. She was voted as Most Courteous in her senior year, 1947. At school while she was decorating a Christmas tree, JT fell from the bleachers while watching her. After her graduation from High School, they started dating and later were married November 22, 1947. They moved to Houston, then Pasadena and wound up in Deer Park, Texas. They built a one-bedroom house on 7th Street and at that time there were only 2 houses on thee block. She had two daughters, Claudia and Laurie. Later on they built another house on 6th Street. She was also a baker at Deer Park ISD plus getting her beauticians license. After they both retired, they moved back to Madison County. Later on they built a house on Concord Road.
She loved living close to family. She was preceded in death by her husband, JT Jord, daughter Laurie, sisters Marie Rice, Irene Bennett and brothers Ed, Ottice, Hobo, Charlie and Clarence Collard. She is survived by Claudia (CJ) Tucker, husband Paul, daughter Karen, Jason Gouge, and sons, Gabriel and Zackary. Laurie Abshire’s children: Justin, wife Katie, and children Mason and Emma. Austin, wife Lindsay, children Aiden and Rylee. Sister, Virgie Lucas, Aunt Darlene, Aunt Smith. Also a special thank you to those that called and visited, sent cards and gifts on her birthday wishes. Thanks to Brother Tommy and sister Donna for being there in some rough times.
As some called her, Nina by her siblings. She was mother, grandmother to her children and grandchildren and great grandmother. She made wonderful pies and cakes for her family and friends. She was a kind, sweet person, she loved to cook and she loved her family.
She will be laid to rest at Midway Cemetery Thursday, December 2 at 2 p.m.
