Lee was born on August 28, 1929 in Lafayette, LA to Martin and Nee Branch (Guilbeau) Hardy and he honorably served his country in The United States Navy.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rose Marie Carolyn Hardy; and his daughter, Stephanie Marie Hardy. He is survived by his children, Karen Marlene Haun and Lee Roy Hardy, Jr.
